According to informed sources, the Hong Kong Consumer Council has conducted a random inspection of 15 disinfectants and 22 disinfectant wipes. The flexible packaging of these 37 products are marked with various degrees of disinfection, sterilization or bacteriostatic effects. Some of the wipes packaging can also kill 99.9% of bacteria; however, only 17 of them can provide related test reports. Some of the sterilization types and effects listed in the reports are inconsistent with the definitions on product packaging.

After this incident, the Hong Kong Consumer Council recommended that manufacturers standardize the product's flexible packaging and indicate the product's composition and content on the label. Further, the sampling part of the measured sample containing alcohol, at a concentration of 25% - 75%.
